Authenticity and Living a Life True to Yourself

Breakout Session Description

In her book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, palliative care provider Bronnie Ware found that the most common regret of those nearing the end of their lives was: “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” Similarly, each year, Merriam-Webster announces its Word of the Year, reflecting the term with the most significant surge in searches. In 2023, that word was “authenticity” (following “gaslighting” in 2022). In this breakout session, we will explore what it  means to "live a life true to myself (or my selves)" through multiple perspectives on authenticity. We will examine how authenticity is not a one-size-fits-all concept, but rather a deeply personal journey. You'll have an opportunity to develop your personal view of authenticity that will empower you to lead a fully engaged life.
